Open mob!

Sunday, March 19

Did anyone watch TV or listen radio on Sat? If so, you must have repeatedly seen/ heard the open mobilisation. And yes, I was mobilised!

Well it wasn't anything of a rush as it was somewhat expected that we would be activated this manning period. And this sat was quite probable, after having some 'insider information'... Hehe. So basically on Fri night, I checked all my stuff to ensure everything is ready and properly packed, just in case kenna checked.

On sat itself, even before we were mobilised, I was informed that the advance party was already been mobilised and we should be activated by 2. Being the responsible Det I/C, I informed my det members of 99.9% likely mobilisation later (Not that this would be of much useful, coz I told them not too long before the mob started...). And so while watching TV and at past 2, I saw the little green man flashing! My code name! Activated lor!

Took a cab down and fetched SW first. Well it's a good thing that both of our men in our det are contactable, so we could simply pop down to the mob centre asap. We were still discussing if this mob was a sign-in sign-out mob, or a something mob which we have to stay until late in the night, and perhaps even perform some sentry duties! Anf it's the former, to his most relief since he had many events at night. Over there, RSM simply checked to ensure we had equipment and that's it! The processing time was almost equivalent to our travelling time.

SW and I were so early, we thought we were the first from our platoon to arrive! We sat in the canteen, watching men from other units, other companies, other platoons, but none from mortar... None until quite some time later. But I learnt later that we were not the first... Apparently, alan had rushed down immediately once the green man flashed. Immediately as in lightning speed, as I heard he reached the mob centre at 2.15pm. Gosh! Efficient soldier!

Although we were early, the others were late late late. Ok they were not late as they still met N+6 hours, but we waited for some of them for quite a long time. It was already 5+ when ck, ym etc. finished processing and we headed down to the nearby area for a meal and caught up with them. WX had very good luck... His IA company sent him to China for a short period of time even though he applied for a local IA, with quite good pay too! Dav actually said he fasted reguarly... not that I am questioning, but as mentioned by ck, would it atone for the past chilli sauce, ketchup, milk, groundsheets and many other free stuff that he took along the way? Haha, in case Dav sees this, Dav is really quite a nice person la.

All in all, the mobilisation went smoothly for me. =)
