Why can't the Dean make Final Year a more relaxed year for Accountancy Grp B students?? I feel so obliged to finish all my readings, yet it seems sooooo impossible... Ok maybe it is do-able, but how can anyone read everything without dozing off halfway, eh?

Yeah, can speed-reading... Filter away the unwanted stuff. But other than readings, come projects! Is it really necessary having a project for each NBS module? Just because NBS wants to decrease the weightage on exams, every NBS module confirms come with a project and/or written assignment, presentation, class participation etc. And still got the exams that occupies as low as 40% of the total weightage (and still a 2.5 hrs paper!)

Then still got FYP (Y can't they scrap FYP for my batch..) and attachment coming... This has gotta be the most rushed and packed year. What a finale to my NTU days!

And since it's gotta be a final year, I decide I must find time to make full use of the facilities before I graduate, namely the gym and swimming pool. I must find time to exercise!

Nice NIE uncle

Saturday, July 30

I went to NIE to buy my SM (Strategic Mgt la...) textbooks on Fri, and the uncle there was so kind!

There was a really long queue extending all the way to the entrance, and if I were to join the queue, it might take one hour or so. *sianz* Then at the entrance there, I saw some piles of books there, probably coz they had no place elsewhere to place them. And I saw my SM textbook there!

There was an old uncle there, probably a sales assistant there. So I asked him politely that I just wanted to buy a textbook, which is just there right in front of him, and since it's just ONE textbook, must I queue too?So he just took the book I wanted, and led me all the way to the cashier in front. His colleague sorta asked and he replied that it's just one textbook I wanted, so what for join the queue? Therefore, I got priority queue and bought my textbook in 5 mins despite a long long queue! And I got a free foolscape pad too!

The lessons I learnt:

1. Ask and you shall receive. Many times, we think "cannot, cannot" before we even asked, and we do not ask in the end because we expect to be rejected. Mine is just a simple request here, but sometimes, there are more difficult requests and we may feel paiseh in asking. But, who knows the result, right?

2. Be polite when asking for requests. I believe there are occasions when we forget to smile or say a "please" when asking for favours, from both strangers and friends. Or we forgot to add a "thank you" when our favours are completed. In fact, we should be courteous always, not only when asking people for favours.

3. Know precisely what you want before asking for favours. I know what textbook I want beforehand and I could recognise it there. Thus everything went smoothly. When asking people for requests, we should always explain clearly what we want, else the other party would be confused as well.

Once again, thank u NIE uncle!

Project Superstar - Semi finals 1

Friday, July 29

Project Superstar: Jason got in! And contrary to most people, I am happy he got in! Why? Other than the cheap thrill of winning the bet with WH and XM, I got reason one k.

Jason might be the weakest there, but this is a show based on votes! In the very beginning, I was quite sad when Jiaxin was out in the first round, and this was the very first time that the ugly side of the voting show was shown, when the best would not always win.

I couldn't stand those childish fans of Derrick when they posted mean and evil posts on Jason's page. That was after Derrick was voted out when only Jason & Derrick were standing there. It was not Jason's fault lor.

Now Weichong is out too, I can expect more hate postings on Jason's page... Poor thing.

Come on lar! I bet most of u people out there who felt sad for Weichong didn't vote for him! Coz most of u support the oh-so-cute Derrick, but i guess most of u didn't even vote once for Derrick as well!

I like to support the least-favoured star who is usually the most kena-ed one, though no fault of him/her. I must admit I used to like Derrick, but nowadays, I can't stand him liao (Boys, guys, the male gender, can u all still stand him??) And i've never really liked Weichong anyway, even if he sings quite well... Dunno why. As for Wei Lian? Ok lor... And this leaves me with Junyang and Jason, but Jason won't last til the finals definitely, so I hope Junyang will!

We must also not neglect the dark forces behind such shows lor...

Junyang probably has a higher chance than...

Derrick, because Derrick is soon to be enlisted.

However, I predict Derrick not to be eliminated so soon... He and Junyang might be the last 2 standing.

Next week, I guess either Wei Lian or Jason will go... Jason will not go if MCS wants him to remain to create more upstirring and news. And I wun mind if it's Derrick who goes... As long as not Junyang!

Well, but for the females, i truly agree that Kelly Poon is the best! I dun really care which of the others got eliminated first, as long as Kelly wins. A bit contradicting with the guys' one, I know...

This is Superstar show mah. Got those
1. who sing well, and appeal to me (Kelly, Jiaxin, Junyang),
2. who sing not as well but also appeal to me (Jason),
3. who sing very well, but dun appeal to me at all (Weichong, and that very zhuai guy who was out very early),
4. who used to appeal to me but now no longer appeal to me (Derrick),
5. who I simply hate (Lijun, Hagen),
6. who I simply boh chup (the etc).

Do i sound a bit 自我 here? Coz... this is Don'z Blog, my domain~

(*Photos taken from boba's LJ blog, hope he doesn't mind)

Sch reopens!

Tuesday, July 26

School reopened!

Went for 范围琪 & 江美琪 campus concert on monday and it was great! Thanx, Hoi n subcom, for organising it! I dun really know their new songs well, but i still enoyed the concert nonetheless. 江美琪 sang "亲爱的你怎么不在身边”, which I absoultely love, at the end of her part and everyone just sang along!

范围琪 came up next, and I think she brings more 互动 among the audience. She's very friendly and I think, she's a very cute person. I wish she'd sang at least a complete old song though... just singing a few lines of “那些花儿” and “启程” w/o the music doesn't sing sufficient...

The next day, I had two lessons... and I still have uncompleted readings now! Really dun want to snowball my readings this sem, but the readings just seem endless. (And it's just the first seminar...) And my PE seem even more reading-intensive... $16 of readings totally, plus a few more I saw on edventure! Somemore everyone seems to be ultra-hardworking this semester... hmmm...

I hate... to be the only guy in a group for random allocations. This happened to me in both aa205 and aa206 today! While engine guys would be soooo happy, noooo def not NBS guys... Sometimes, if not always, NBS gals desire to be treated as queens and dirty would eventually fall upon the shoulders of the guys. Of course, there are very smart and initiative gals out there too, just as there are slacker and free-riding guys in NBS. The most important thing is that every team member is cooperative and not be stubborn... =)

Back in Hall now... I am loving my room more now, especially after going to Ikea the other day and shopped for many things for my room, such as a standing lamp, rug, clock... But I forgot to bring batteries back from home, so now the clock is basically lifeless... Wanted to post some photos, but i forgot to bring the USB cable for my digicam...

So this is a all-word entry... No photos until I get home, sorry!

The past few days... Friday, after out-processing, I went back home and cleaned all my stuff. The muddy water was still muddy despite me rinsing my stuff over 10 times! Made me wonder if i had properly washed my stuff after my previous ICT... Then I went down to pasir ris and joined Apus for SP NIGHT. Had fun talking with my friends and being silly! Haa... But most of the FOC main comm didn't seem too friendly that night... Shagged out? I'm still high after 2 weeks of ICT lor... Anyway watched the freshies played stupid games, and honestly, the whole thingy was kinda cold and not flowing...

Somehow my moods was dampened and it was surely pointless to watch freshies whom i dunno making a fool of themselves. Left early to join my army friends again for SUPPER! Yeah although we just left one another a few hours ago, but we were still high! And it might be quite some time before we met one another again. But apparently, the organiser was kinda *diaoz*, putting his HP to silent and not answering my calls! Stupid CCK... But the supper still went off successfully!

And I still couldnt have a good night's sleep, coz i had a CHURCH WEDDING to attend on Sat. Rachel was ravishing as the bride, and I pray for God's blessings to be upon William and Rachel. And I realised later, I had given a bit too much money for the church wedding... Shucks! I should have asked my church friends instead of my non-Christian friends... I'm not being stingy ok, but the money i gave would be almost enough for a restaurant wedding dinner lor... Now, a new lesson learnt...

Went home to change and prepare for SINYEE'S 21st BIRTHDAY CHALET! We were late for 1 hr plus... The food was great and there seemed to be an endless supply of BBQ food! Happy 21st Birthday Sinyee! I shall mention something funny here... There's a Weiting in our JCRC, and Sinyee had invited her. However, when the Weiting came, it was another Weiting... The Weiting who came was Weeting from my ex tut class! So paiseh. Everyone was wondering how it could have occured and why she came when she dunno Sinyee... Apparently Weeting osso knew another Sinyee(Or Xinyi) whose bdae is also around this time. How could it have occured, and how could Sinyee have her number?? Ok la, I deduced that I might have been the one to give Sinyee the wrong Weiting since it seemed that I was the only one who knew both Weitings. But i couldn't recall Sinyee asking me for Weiting's number, so if it's my error, it must have been eons ago...

Happening Fri and Sat, a resting Sunday. And I DIY coloured my hair on Sunday! Something subtle but nice... =)

Back from ICT~!! Wheee!

While it had been a tiring and exhausting 2 weeks, it had been fun nonetheless. We had lotsa fun playing with one another in camp, as well as catching up with one another. ICT reminded me of the NSF days I had back then in the old 1 SIR camp with my platoon mates, and it would definitely sucks if I am doing it with people I dunno. Doing ICT with my platoon mates is enjoyable and no matter how siong things can be, I still love it! The 2 weeks seemed like just 2 days... Haa...

The only bad thing is missing Hall FOC due to ICT. Missed hanging out with my Hall friends, missed meeting the freshies...

It seemed just yesterday that I just ORDed and got into uni and attended Hall FOC. But, 2 days later, I will be into my final year, and another phase of my life would just pass by in less than 365 days, just like how my NSF days had zoomed past.

I made good friends in NS.
I made good friends in NTU thru Hall and tutorial/seminars, and one last year to be with these groups of people now.

2nd ICT Week 1

Saturday, July 16

Whee booked out of camp for the weekend! Honestly til now, I enjoyed my ICT. The activities are spread out evenly, not too siong, quite good.

Day 1 (11July): Woke up at 5 and met Davin n Thor at MRT station to take cab. Unfortunately there weren't any cabs in sight as we waited for the past half hour! Even calling a cab takes quite some time, and to mkae it worse, the stretch along PIE Tuas was severly jammed! Reached Tanjong Gul Camp at about 8plus, but heng, the in-processing counters were still opened and there were people who were as late as us. Day 1 was basically a day of slacking...
Day 2: We were supposed to be having our mortar drills in the morning, but it rained! So the training was cancelled after all. In the noon, we had hand grenade drills, which I felt was totally unnecessary. Fake grenades somemore. It was like those arcade games, trying to hit the target. And the day ended with a 3-4km route march in the rain. I dunno, but it's like we were waiting and waiting before the rain started, and when we finally started, it rained...

Day 3: Mortar practices and test! Was sooo dismayed at my own performance... tsk tsk... Anything that could possibly went wrong, went wrong. WTH!!
IPPT in the noon, and I got my silver as expected. I almost missed it by 10+ seconds in the running part. Silver = $200 while Pass = $100 only. Gold = $400 tho, but i would need to run 9min 44 seconds or below for my 2.4km, which is totally impossible without regular training. Never mind, the $200 earned in that 2 hours makes my day! That siao eh at the counter almost caused me to faint when he said when a solen face,"Failed". Funny ah.

Day 4: IMT and range zeroing. IMT is basically rifle shooting stimulation exercises in an air-con room. So it's like shooting in arcade lor...
Then later, it's zeroing our weapons, which means aligning our weapons to find the aiming point to shoot the target accurately. Using the SAR21 scope is definitely easier than the M16 frontside tip.

Day5: Actual range. Another chance to earn another $200 if we get marksmanship. We were initially skeptical of getting it as the commanders said it was quite hard, and also, it's a group effort thingy now. Which means 1 bobo shooter could easily bring down his team members' efforts. The day shoot wasnt that hard, but the stupid scoring system sucks! Coz it isn't accurate! And I am complaining here coz I was affected! I got all 20 targets down, confirmed + guranteed, yet the system only recorded me as having only 18! And my teammate, xiong, who confirmed he got only 19 targets down, had his score recorded as a full 20. WTF!

Night shooting was a bit tricky though, and my score wasn't that perfect. We didn't know our night scores though, but our team got marksman, provided the news is accurate! Yay! But anyway, out of the 16 or so teams, only 2 didn't get it. So it wasn't that hard as we had thought anyway...

I realised that there is a secret passage at the drain at NIE there, which will lead to the live firing area... So close, yet so far away...

Day 6: Booked out! And here I am... Tmr night booking in back again...

Shall upload some pics and more intersting news n happenings at the end of my reservist ba!

ICT...

Saturday, July 9

Went for the NBS camp for a few days... And I really felt O-L-D. I am '82, the freshie gals are '86, gap of 4 years! Anyway I had fun, not with the freshies, but with meeting up with the people I know! Gossips n catching up~!

Trying hard to be optimistic, I find myself sliding subconsxiously into the sianz mode as my ICT approaches. It is a hassle to drag out & pack my stuff for reservist (or ICT)... fieldpack, uniforms, shoes, misc stuff etc. Made myself a bit happier by going out to buy underwear for ICT today... And i was indeed happier coz as usual, I shopped and bought more things... Samuel & Kevin having clearance sale, things were really going cheap! It's the Tampines brach btw.

Acually to think of it, ICT isn't really that bad when I am doing ICT with my 2-yr platoon mates. At least we get to suffer n live together again. Also I dun think my fitness is too lousy either. But I would enjoy ICT more if...

1. I dun have to pack my things.
2. No need to wake up early for n during ICT.
3. SAF pay us more money.
4. Doing outfield in a air-con stimulated place. Just stimulate the sunlight minus the heat.
5. Siwei & Sgt Chee Keong would be going back as well... but they're not =(
6. The sucky specs dun come back! But i think they most prob will be.
6. Better food pls!
7. Tanjong Gul Camp is damn far can? It's even further than NTU.

Well i am daydreaming... But most prob, I guess i will enjoy and have fun in ICT again by entertaining everyone else... haa...

Personality tests

Monday, July 4

Have been working in roadshow during the past weekend. It wasn't too bad, as I did not have to promote the channel as contrary to what WH thought. No, it's just about manning a games booth for giam beng Sporeans to play and win prizes. Furthermore, my booth was quite in a ulu corner, and as compared to the other free photo-taking booth, my human traffic flow is lower. Not as siong, not as boring, but sianz and glad it's over. Dunno how to say la... its a mixture of feelings.

ICT next week... Mixture of feelings too. Good to see and live with my army friends again, except SW. But... hi-key... The sun nowdays is great for sun-tanning, but not for outfield!

Watched this show which is quite new on SCV called “幸福选择权”. Lotsa of bitching n gossips too coz there r 6 ladies there... They were being asked a couple of 心理测验s too, let's see if I can remember some... Each tests different things.

Ready? Come on!

1. If you have to choose one of the people to be Snow White, who will u choose?
a. Evonne Hsu (Xu Hui Xin): Yeah the ultra white gal...
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

b. Barbie Hsu aka Big S: Straightforward and direct
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

c. Patty Hou (Hou Pei Cheng): Eh, Jay's GF?
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

2. What do u dislike your boyfriend to discuss most with other guys in your presence?
a. Army stuff
b. Cars and subsequent add-ons
c. Online gaming
(woah... soccer is not that much talked-about in Taiwan, ah?)

3. Which of the following food would be your preferred for an afternoon tea session?
a. Mango sago (or any other types of sago)
b. Donuts (esp from some famous brand which must be queued for)
c. Cute ice-cream in little styrofoam-like balls. You know, when you break a styrofoam, little balls of styrofoam will drop out? Now, they have such ice-cream in such small small ball-shapes. So a cup of such ice-cream would consist of several layers, maybe strawberry balls at the bottom, yellow corn balls in the middle, purple yam balls at the top and ending with brown chocolate balls.

Now have u selected your answers? Scroll down for the analysis (as far as i can remember)...
.
.
.
.
..
..
..
1. This is a test of double personality. Snow White actually reflects your inner being, and the person whom you select to be Snow White will enable u to see how much of a double personality u have. If u chosse:
a. Evonne Hsu. 90% double personality. Quite often u think of yourself as Snow White, weak and the need to be protected. You live in your own fantasies and is waiting for your Proce Charming to come, as in the fairy-tale.
b. Big S. 10%. Your character would be somewhat straight-forward and direct, not afraid to speak up. Hence someone like Big S would meet ur definition of Snow White well.
c. Patty Hou. 50%. (The norm) At times, u are yourself such as with your friends. At other times, such as in front of strangers, you put on a really cold front and may not speak more than 5 words.

2. This is a test of how u, gals, are easily fooled by guys!
a. 80%. U dun like your bf to talk about his glory (or flauntings) in NS. This suggests you like little actions by your bf, but in a way, u r easily fooled too...
b. 50%. U weigh each side of the relationship so as not to be fooled easily (and eh, etc etc...)
c. 20%. Online gaming takes up a lot of time and moreover it is in a realm of fantasy. You are a pretty practical person who treasures time and thus being rational, you are not eaily fooled.
(This test may not be so true for you all, coz guys at our age may not have the money for cars.)

3. A test of how 斤斤计较 u are!
a. 25%. Sago is easy to eat and requires little chewing. If u selected sago, you are one who forgives easily and will not go about whining n complaining.
b. 50%. Donuts look tasty, but can be quite chewy inside. You can be one who forgives on the surface, but inside, your heart is still a bit confused. But it's still only "a bit", so you'll feel buey song, but usually will not go about complaining to other people too.
c. 75%. The ice-cream are in the form of little particle balls, and you'll eat it while counting how many you have eaten. You tend to be rather geh gao, picky n fussy about little details.
