Superhost
Monday, February 27
It's obvious who's the winner in Superhost last night! Lee Teng is definitely more witty and leaves a deep impression in the hearts of the audience! Honestly there is nothing memorable about Cuifang who, although is stable, appears pretty dead-pan and looks old.
The winner gets to host Superband with Milk, Belinda etc, and I don't think cuifang will be able to perform her best in it. I believe such shows would be able to groom LT more effectively than cf.
The reality of voting shows. It's like last time in Superstar when Kelly won Sin Huey when obviously Sin Huey sang much better. And this time I got vote ok, as compared to a few pathetic votes in Superstar last time. Coz I supported Kelly last time... even though I agree that Sin Huey had sang much better than Kelly actually.
I condemn the femlae lawyer judge totally. In the 2nd round, she gave ALL the contestants 58+ points. Hello? As if 0.2 made a great difference! I still couldn't forget her giving Xinyu 7.x pointsin the revival round when other judges complimented her and gave her 9.x. WTF?? She gave Xinyu lower scores than bangzhi?! And last night, she gave all contestants similarly high points, she might as well gave all 0 lor. -__-
In conclusion, LT is unarguably the best performer for Superhost last night. He's the Superhost already le!

D&D 06
Sunday, February 26
I just came back from my Hall's D&D. This time, it was held in Amara Hotel. What a most exciting start to the dinner when they told me, TH, ZQ n YQ that we had to sit with the hall counsellors coz there were no seats for us. And we were soooo sorry that we were so late that Mr D&D chair had to come over with such a black face and asked us to quickly get to our seats at the counsellors' table. I seemed to get this feeling, "You all are from the old comm, come so late, big shot ah? Hmmm wait, since u all come so late, u all shall help entertain our Hall counsellors! No seats reserved for u guys, u all die die can only sit there! Muahahaha!!"
But well, it ain't so bad compared to last year when I was sitting with the counsellors. Maybe coz I'm no longer in the comm and so, less stress now to sit with them. But the introduction was quite strange, "Hi, I'm Donny, and well, actually, we are all from the previous comm." Haha... O_O
TH suggested each of us placed a $2 for who would win the Hall Queen. As there were 4 of us and 5 contestants, there's a 20% chance for each of us to win and 20% chance that no one would win. We didn't really know the contestants or even their names, so it really depends on luck. And it's really so sway, coz none of us won! The one whom I placed my bet on became Hall Princess instead, I'm the closest to winning!
For the senior residents like me, the fun part would be photo-taking and lucky draw. I never won anything from D&D to date! Hrrrmpt! Ruishan got the top prize, which was some canon printer... So heng!
YK: I want the printer!
RS: Nooooo! It's mine!
YQ: Muahahaha! It's no longer yours!
The more formal pics... YQ, 31 and me!
Tada! The chio bu in the centre has changed from 31 to RS!
The photo is actually a bit blur...
Tada! The chio bu in the centre has changed once again to a yandao this time, JL! 3 yandaos in a foto, with JL trying to imitate 31's pose... Haa...
Although Mabel a bit extra, but hor, she blended in quite well, that her arm looked as tho it's MY arm. A bit la, if u think it doesn't, try to be more imaginative then...
The Year 3s! Thank you to whoever took this photo... But it's blur... =(
The Blk 65-ians! Unarguably the hottest block in Hall 14!
The 4th JCRC were taking photos and everyone, including YY, were happily posing. After a few poses, YY thought we had stopped taking photos, so she walked out of her pose lor. And thus this is the end result...
Will YY kill me for putting this up?? But hor, u see, YY is chio even when she's not posing for the camera. That's why she can be our ex-ex-Hall Queen!

The video below has been put to "Private" mode. Sorry if u can't get to view it, but u can at least listen to the nice songs...
I booked my first non-ICT ippt! Such a seamless and smooth procedure, and I even changed my date 3 times. Settled on a 7.30am slot, how awfully early, but I prefer a morning slot to an evening slot. Just wake up and take it and get it over with! Hope that I could maintain my silver award, which is worth $200. Gold award is impossible, similar to getting into the top few % of my cohort.
To put it nicely, I am easily contented. To sound not so nice, I am lazy... *yawn* Or maybe this is why I am cheerful (as voted by friends), coz I dun push myself too hard and give myself too much stress.
And I'm not gonna stress myself this weekend too: D&D on sat, and going to watch LT on sun (There're tickets rite?). Quiz? Man man lai...

Local short film
Wednesday, February 22
Brokeback Mountain is a touching and heart-wrenching movie about 2 gay cowboys.
Locally, there is also a short film on a gay JC student. It's based on a real-life story, where the JC student did commit suicide. I'm not too critical of the sound system or whatever filming techniques, and I thought the film was a pretty great piece of artwork. Oh the songs are great too, written by a local singer-songwriter. U can get some of his songs at http://www.purevolume.com/punkd1 .
And here's the link for the video if you are interested:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EIvBX4iWxlU
Lyrics of the theme song (also my current blog song):
Beautiful (by punkd1)
I don't know
If I'm the one for you in this life
I can't help
Hearing my voice calling your name
Cuz when I'm
Trying so hard not to look in your eyes
Maybe I
Have fallen in love with you
Well tonight
Maybe this time I can hear you breathe
Its alive to see you smile
With those tears in your eyes
They may say
That you're just a girl in this spinning world
In my heart
You're like the world to me
I can't so describe
How I'm feeling deep inside
So much more than I can say
With your touch it feels so right
Oh my, you're so near
All the time in this place
For I know in my heart
I'll never let you go
In this lifetime
Do you know why oh baby
Cuz you're just so
Beautiful to me
Touch my hand; feel my heart
Hold me close and you'll find me
You'll find me
You're so beautiful to me ..

Impressario on Sat wasn't too bad. Although it seemed like a bit less exciting than last year, still it was still quite entertaining. There's this guy from Fusion performing B-Box (or whatever), as in the technique in which he uses his mouth to make all sorts of sounds like drum beats, rhythm claps etc. He was so amazing and professional, he's the star of that night!
On Sunday morning, a close relative of mine was admitted to CGH because of a mild stroke. The good thing was that he was admitted to hospital very quickly and his situation wasn't so serious when my family went to visit him in the afternoon. Stroke is really horrible as it requires treatment and observation for quite some time. I just hope that his condition will stabilise and recover and he can move about as freely as before.
Went back on school on monday for lessons... Kinda sad when everyone else in NTU is having their term break and the poor minority of us are still stuck on week 5... The school seems so dead and empty, except the labs and canteens.

Noisy at my neighbourhood last Sunday... It was the chingay parade at my CC there! There were a few flower cars (direct translation from Mandrian... What do u call them in English?) passing by my area and it was an interesting event. Managed to snap some photos... Some of the performers on the flower cars were real friendly, waving to the people watching them. My mum was so excited by the parade that she told grandma to stop cooking dinner for a while and to go downstairs and watch. Advantage of not living on too high-storeys is that we could just pop downstairs before the flower cars past by us into the next area!
Went for my future employer's cocktail last evening... Nothing much to say, like that lor... Except that I drank quite a lot of wine. Coz the waiter kept walking around and asked if I wanted more, so I take lor. If not, the waiter will be quite sianz, walking around asking if NTU undergrads want more wine or not but no one wants... I am just being kind!! Later, I stopped when I felt that slight spinning feeling. I'm just a lousy drinker... Haa...

Music Diary 《音乐日记》: A programme by local Mandrian radio station YES933. DJs for this programme are Lingzhi and not too recently, Peifen. The programme consists of 2 segments: (1) “007 的音乐日记” being listeners writing in their life/love experiences to share with all, and the DJ will read out his/her story. In between, she will play some suitable songs to blend them into the story. (2) The other segment is “说说而已” where the DJ will read out an anecdote or some meaningful phrases/quotes from some sources to inspire the listeners. This programme has been around for 5 years, and is now broadcasted on weekdays 8pm (Mon, Wed, Fri = Lingzhi; Tue, Thu = Peifen). Music Diary is highly recommended!
Music Diary 3 CD isn't as what I had expected... For MD 1 & 2, it was Lingzhi's usual Music Diary style. For MD 3, I guess 933 wanted to try something different.
Somehow, I feel that 933 really shouldn't call this Music Diary...
1. There's no Lingzhi. Her voice is what makes Music Diary special, and is also what makes people tune in to Music Diary regularly. There's really no other DJ who can make the stories as special and touching as she does. Ok maybe there are, but Music Diary is like Lingzhi's trademark show. How can Music Diary still be Music Diary without Lingzhi??
2. It's not the usual style. There are no songs in between the stories, which is the style we hear on radio. Heard on 933 that this CD is like a 偶像剧 style... But honestly, it gets boring after hearing story after story, without any songs. But of course, the CD included a small book with the stories, so one can always refer to the book while listening to the stories.
Verdict: I prefer MD 1 & 2. Of course, this MD 3 is not bad too as the other DJs also pour in their feelings while reciting the stories, but I feel that 933 might as well not call it Music Diary, since it does not involve Lingzhi, and since the style deviates from the one heard on radio. Regular supporters of Music Diary and Lingzhi will definitely feel some disappointment...
Anyway, some photos of the 933 DJs involved in the making of Music Diary 3!
Chongqing! Saw his cap? It said "CQ", for Chongqing? Haa, I didn't notice it then.
Mary! She's very friendly and was smiling very often!
Cruz Teng! Very friendly in person too!
Jiahui! First time see her in person, and she's quite pretty!
Peifen! With Jiahui, they were posing quite often for the audience below the stage to take photos... haa...
Liyi! She's a nice person too!
But still, no Lingzhi... A bit sad ah...

3 weeks of school just passed by me. Maybe it's because I had 2 sets of reports/presentations in these few weeks to settle, plus fyp, and these few weeks whizzed by me so quickly, I hardly have time to breathe. And yeah I am more relaxed now (let me ignore my thick readings and dunno-what-concepts for now). The tough work for my past 2 weeks were worth it, and I am glad I have great project mates for both my 304 and 312. Everyone played an important role and it was most enjoyable working with them!
AA304:
I look disproportionate!
Leon, Don, pQ, Nita. I thought we put up a decent presentation being the first team. Ok at least we tried... And yeah, our group is randomly generated, but my groupmates are cooperative people to work with! The tough part was meeting the word count for the report with so many questions, and how to make the report flow. =)
AB312:
Ok I look better...
Eileen, Gel, XM, Don. Thankfully our topic wasn't that tough! Our presentation was the usual routine but it plus the report weren't too bad, considering there were only 10+ days to the dateline of our report after knowing our question, and 3 days were CNY lor. Yeah I am wearing the same shirt here coz this presentation fell on the same day as my 304 presentation...
My very last presentation for my NTU life will be in 2 weeks time for my AA206. Must treasure it!

The in-word today: FYP-ing
Everyone seems to be doing it nowadays. Open your msn, and vey likely, there is at least one person with "FYP-ing" in his/her personal message. Everyone just seem to like to use this word so much machiam like what fashion trend. Except pw who finished her fyp le, so good...
Like the 五月天 going "恋爱-I-N-G, HAPPY-I-N-G", so we NBS students are happy going FYP-ing!
Ok this is quite a useless post... haha... I shall go back to FYP-ing...

Steamboats!
Monday, February 6
The promised backdated entries on STEAMBOATS!
Steamboat with my NTU classmates last wed, and it was actually my first steamboat of the Dog year. My family had no steamboat this year, so I was really glad about this steamboat! We went to ntuc@ JP to buy food but they seemed to have a lot of food sold out... Everyone having steamboat also? Never mind, we still bought enough food for our steamboat.
Doesn't it look yummy?? Veges, beancurd, luncheon meat, pork, dumplings etc...
WH, HMM, XM, Chris, ZH, Smint, XP n mi!
8 people for a steamboat, what an auspicious start!
XP was trying to take some photos, and smint was trying to make the photo look more artistic?
XP and I taking self-shots. Both of our specs are so special!
And the next day, after class, pQ (all of a sudden) asked me, "Want steamboat tonight?"
Very the last minute hor? But amazingly all our hall friends are free, and she got 8 including us! Yes it's 8 again! Another auspicious start!
Having learnt a lesson at ntuc the day before, pQ, CY n i proceeded to IMM to get the food instead. There was an abundance of meat, veges and everything there, except drinks tho.
CY, me, pQ, JH, 31, ZQ
YK and YQ came very late coz they had FOC meeting. Always one! Last time when we had BBQ, they had FOC meeting too. Must it be such a coincidence? Must be the FOC problem...
That's the rice cooker that YK won at CNY dinner. It has been put to good use!
I started this entry with a steamboat full of food. So I shall also end it with a table empty of food.
Oh yeah, the next night, I played MJ with my Hall friends and I won! I won all 3 of them for about $20... hehe... Thanks to God of Fortune for visiting me and sorry peepz for winning your money!

About 2 months ago, I received a Friendster message from a long-lost friend, no, long-lost classmate. His message sounded pretty innocent and asked for my number. So I gave him my number.
Then he started calling me a few weeks later and asked to meet-up. So I thought, ok, meet up lor. So we arranged for a date, but later I had to change that as I wasn't free eventually. And he kept calling again and asked for meet-ups.
Fishy fishy. What do you think he is? Insurance? MLM? Or purely to remember the old days? I have no idea, but he briefly mentioned that he is currently working at his dad's place. Hmmm. So finally, I decided to meet up with him. So that he will STOP pestering me. And he did not even mind coming down to JP all the way from the east to meet me! Ok he has a car, but it's still very far... So let's wait then and we'll see why is he soooo desperate to meet me, and perhaps other long-lost classmates.
Anyway I dun call this irritating yet. Not when I compare him with this...
I was happily jogging at Bedok Reservoir at my comfortable pace when from nowhere, this 40+ y/o man overtook me. And he started to BLOCK my path. It's like you are jogging with someone you know and you block each other's path for fun so that your friend will not overtake you. And this stupid guy is doing this to me!
Initially I didn't think too much of it and I thought Ok he just wanted to overtake me la. So I boh chup him and continued jogging at my pace. But after some time, I realised, he's still at such a short distance away from me. Shouldn't he be far ahead?? Somemore, as I was behind him, he kept turning back to look at me, as if indicating something...
What?? Is he beo-ing me?? He gay ah??
Heng ah, after a while, someone faster overtook me and that crazy guy targetted him now. And he was trying to block his path too like what he tried to do to me. Siao ah!! I decided to jog real slowly behind now so as maintain a far distance from him. Safe, temporarily.
Unfortunately, near the end when I was sprinting, I saw that crazy guy in front again! And he seemed happy that he has someone to 'play with' and as I approached him, he tried to block my path again. I decided to play with him now, but surprisingly, his stamina seemed quite good too. He was like sprinting alongside with me for quite some distance... Finally I reached my destination, slowed down and stopped. And yeah, he did the same. Until some other jogger came along and he played with them. Go go go, get lost!
With this, I concluded:
1. He's not gay. Dun think so.
2. He is simply irritating. Horribly irritating.
3. However, irritating people usually have a lot of stamina so that they can irritate many other people.

Yoyoyo it's the post-CNY period! And for me, it had been steamboats for 2 consecutive nights!
One was with my classmates, the other one was with my hall friends! Both have been fun, from the buying of food, to the preparation and finally to the eating itself. I do so much want to blog about them and upload photos but unfortunately, I have classes later on. And I have been busy with my 304, 312 and fyp recently, so much that I would have forgotten it's still CNY without these 2 steamboats.
Need to get ready for class now. Skipped a lecture today which should be useless.
