Edited Post. Now that I'm in a better mood, let me type some more stuff before I get grumpy over my academic stuff again...

So... My Chu Yi was boring and uneventful. At least my Nian Chu Er was more fun!

Monday (Nian Chu Er) was spent better, coz I went to my army friends' homes to visit.
I had to eat lunch at home first, so I missed out one location (=1 less ang bow!). So for my very first location, the
paiseh thing was when I entered ed's house and I thought my friends were in the living room. So I just shouted loudly "Gong Hei Fatt Choy!!!" when I was at the entrance. Turned out that the visitors in the living room were my friend's mum's friends, some of whom were staring at me (perhaps frightened?) Whoops! So I bo bian, had to thick skin a bit and pretended nothing had happened by greeting Auntie later when I saw her. Heng eug was with me... Not so paiseh when there's someone with me (and to throw face with me).

And the other blur thing I did was later in peck's car, when we were travelling to PS's home. Apparently the address was St 31, yet somehow I heard St 13. So, erm, we spent half an hour travelling to the wrong place (peck muz be thinking then, "Half hour of time wasted, how to go to relative's house? And half hour's worth of petrol wasted..."). But then, you see, my topo isn't that bad, cause St 13 was awfully ulu, yet I still managed to direct peck there, just that it's on the other side of our destination. Later CCK took over the street directory and he encountered some difficulties too. Still we managed to reach St 31 in the end, only just that we were the last car to arrive... So apologetic to peck.
Gosh, if it wasn't peck in the driver's seat, but jw, I should be dead. He'll be cursing *ccb* *knn* *fuck* all the way in the car... o_o" If it's dav, I think I'll need to pay him for the petrol cost wasted... O_O

Today: Back to my 2 reports due tomorrow, and my FYP part due soon...

Once again, GONG HEI FATT CHOY!!

Chinese New Year = Visit to relatives.

It's boring. They say "It's a rare chance for everyone to gather together. It's in the root of the Chinese to remember your tradition values." But seriously, each year, I see lesser and lesser of a point to go relative visiting, coz I have no one to gather with. I dun really get along well with my cousins and we have nothing much to say. But if say, we do get along well, then we can gather anytime we want right, so what for gather only during CNY?? My relatives do gather sometimes throughout the year too, like X'mas and some special occasion like weddings. Sometimes, must still go to give them face la...

So I was there at my aunt's house last night, figuring what will happen in the future for my CNY. Will I still go to my cousins' houses on my own/with my bro? What if I choose not to get married? Do I still go to collect angbows? Maybe I will be like one of those singles featured in the nespapers, going overseas during the CNY period. Maybe I should start thinking of my overseas destinations... Hmmm...

Oh, the count of angbows has officially declined too. I remembered when I was a child, I collected 10+ angbows, once close to $500! Last year it was $200+, inclusive of my close family. But honestly, I would prefer the company than the money lor... If it isn't so boring, lesser money is also okay...

Let's hope Day 2 is more enjoyable coz I have other plans... Haa...

A happy and prosperous Chinese New Year to my readers! It's the doggie year now! Which also means I will be 12 x 2 = 24 years old this year...

It's not my tradition to make wishes during CNY, but I have to make one this year. And it is, NOT to lose my handphone again. If I haven't lost my HP, I could have spent more on CNY clothes, as well as getting my slippers before CNY. And maybe colour my hair again. And maybe go for a facial to prepare for CNY. Bottomline is, I must stop losing handphones...

CNY shopping: I was buying a tee at Fox the other day when the salesgirl told me "Why not get another 2? We have the Buy 3 for 2 promotion!" So I went to search for more tees, some of which look quite good. I took quite some time, and when I got back to the counter, they had just changed their promotion. But guess what, it's something even better! So in the end, I got my 3 tees at a much lower price than the original promotion. Yay! Therefore, sometimes it's not so bad to take a long time period to make decisions, coz something better may pop out unexpectantly. Of course, not all the time, and certainly not when there is an impatient friend around...

Fortune for Dogs: I thought it's a real mystery that this Dog year is BAD for doggies. Shouldn't there be like some sort of home advantage? How come Dog year can be bad for doggies?? Furthermore, it's not just bad. It's terribly, horribly BAD with a big 凶. Seems so unfair lor. But usually, this sort of fortune predictions is quite general... I hope I am in one of the exceptions. *prays* Good luck come come, A+ come come, money come come!!

Also, the fortune teller on tv said doggies' lucky colours this year are red and green and lucky number is 7. But i-weekly and u-weekly said they should be white, beige and yellow, and lucky numbers are 6 & 9. So unsyncronised. What if another fortune teller comes and say another set of lucky colours and numbers? Hrrmpt, who should I trust? So I decided, I shall believe both for now... Expect to see me deck out in more white, yellow, biege, red and green shirts this year!

Once again, to all, 恭喜发财!May everyone be happy, healthy and earn big bucks in the year ahead! *woof woof*

Love Concierge

Friday, January 27

Tonight was the last episode of Love Concierge... It was a happy ending for all! This show has got to be one of the best shows produced by Mediacorp. While it also has some family themes inside, it's different from the usual family-themed shows. The plot is reasonable without too many ridiculous twists. On every night's show, I always learn some lessons on love. The words they said never failed to make me pause to ponder and think, such as how Ruyi and Jiekuan described their love. Once, they used kayaking and related it to love, where both kayakers on the same kayak must coordinate well and not rush. Otherwise, the kayak may capsize and others will overtake them.

And of course, every actor and actress displayed great acting skills! (P/S Being anti-JeanAwful, I am glad that she starred in that previous horrible show and Fiona Xie got to star in this instead!) I particularly enjoyed watching Nancy Kit and Zhu Jou Ren transforming from enemies to lovers, as well as the chemistry between Thomas Ong and Jacelyn Tay. Ann Kok is good too, especially when she threatened to jump off and then the whole family hugged together and cried.

The most touching words I heard tonight was from Jiekuan to Ruyi:
在我眼里,你是最完美的。
没有了你,我的生活就会变得不完美。
(Something like that...)

Wooooooooooooo~~~~~~

I lost this phone on Tuesday 17 Jan 2006...

Motorola e680

And now, my new phone is...

Motorola Razr V3

It is a real cool phone. Despite the fact that more and more people are carrying it now, the phone still oozes sexiness and a "wow" factor IMO. Maybe it's my first flip phone, but I just feel wonderful carrying the phone around.

Both the e680 and V3 are by Motorola. I'm such a loyal supporter of Motorola now! Maybe I should do a slight comparison between the 2 phones.

They belong to different worlds. The e680 is a performance phone, with a Linux system. It has a super big screen, and is great for playing games and watching videos. It is a touch-screen phone, so it's also cool in a way, whenever I took out my stylus and tapped here and there on my phone. With 2 speakers at the back, there is 3D stereo sound and it's good for HP music blasting (like on the MRT). It has been a good mp3 player and radio companion for me everywhere I go. Just that, I hoped the phone could be lighter and thinner. And one thing I disliked most is that it could not ring and vibrate at the same time. But then, nothing is perfect. IMO it has really been a very good phone.

As for the V3, after 4 days of usage, I really think that it's just a beauty phone. Come on, it has no radio, no mp3, no memory card expansion etc. But it sure boosts my ego. Just because it's black, it's thin, it's light and it's forever so sexy. Just that... I need to get a mp3 player now...

And oh, I returned home to realise that my dad had bought a new phone...

Nokia 3230

And I though Nokia phones are still as user-friendly until I tested it out. Omg, are Nokia phones getting harder to use or is it that I have not used a Nokia phone for a very long time? It just seemed terribly complicated to use as it seemed to incoporate too many features. Take for example, the main menu with about 15 icons, some of which I think will be accessed only once per month? And to reach some features, like to change the ringtone, I have to press many times. I wonder how long my dad will take to adapt to it, considering that even I found it hard to use. Eh, he didn't even know that the joystick could be shifted left/right/up down. He thought it was only for pressing and he was wondering how to shift left or right... -_-"

New year, new phone! But no more new year clothes. Haiz.

It's not a good feeling to be on alert. I am sitting here, wondering if I could be mobilised anytime this weekend. If you see the code words "Square Kite" or "Armour Plate" flashing on TVs and I am still online on msn, that means something is very wrong...

I went for the opening of the Hall Olympiad Ceremony (HOC) on wed for the annual cheerleading competition. It was terrific! The whole court was packed with enuthusiatic and energy-filled audiences. It's my first (and last) time being an audience there and the feeling is totally different from being up there.

Our Hall was the first and our cheerleaders managed to set a high standard for the rest to follow. And we got 3rd! Congratz! This time, they gave out medals to individual cheerleaders wor... Hmmm...
Our winners! About the guy cheerleaders' costumes, it does look a bit funny there. They cut denim jeans and sewed it onto the cherleading pants. But then, it's the low-budget way.

Hall 8 got second, while Hall 7 was the derserving champion this year. They had a east-meet-west theme, playing old shanghai songs while performing stunts. Woah! It's totally an enjoyable experience watching them!

I lost my handphone today on Jan 17 2006.

This is the 3rd time in my lifetime that I lost my HP! The 2nd time was 2 years ago, and I think it was roughly this period too, sometime before CNY. Chao sway period!!

Most probably, I dropped my HP on the shuttle bus when I was alighting. Then during lecture, I thought I might have left it in my room. After all, the phone was left unanswered when I called. Ok, maybe the person picked it up, but he/she was figuring how to use my phone.
No keypads? How to unlock? How to call??
And the person probably figured it out in the noon on how to turn it off.

Damn that person who took my HP and not return it. Makes me wonder... Are people really so poor that they take whatever they find? Do they really think finding a phone on the floor is heaven rewarding them? They think is God of Fortune bestowing to them a gift ah?

Hope the person who take my phone will lose more. I'm not cursing him/her, but I believe that retribution will occur.
Who knows, maybe the person will be knocked down tomorrow and be paralyzed forever? Oops.

First Day of school has finally started for us Acc Group B!

There was only one seminar today, but it was most enjoyable. Our tutor for AA304, Prof Tan, was quite humurous. And he does enjoy teaching, compared with some fucked-up tutors in NBS who couldn't care less about the students!

T: "So the quizzes are closed-book... And the exam is closed-book too..."
Me: ??? *whispers to PQ* "The screen not saying open-book meh?"
T: "... So the exam is closed-book, because you will all be very close to your books."
- Laughter-
- _-

That was just one of the jokes. The lesson was overall entertaining and fun-filled, and my group rulez too. I'm in the same group as PQ! There's also another guy, Leon, and Nita. Got zai people in my group, and also, all are friendly people! At least, being in Group ONE doesn't seem so horrible now, even though the project due date is Feb 1, straight after Chinese New Year. How... simply... an interesting way to pass my CNY.

I am going back to school, finally. It's gonna be my first week of my final semester.
I'm in Team 1 for one module, and the dateline for the 2000-word project is Feb 1! There goes my CNY...

I was quite pek chek just now. We planned to have a BBQ in Hall, which was originally set on Sun. Then it had to be changed to Fri. Now someone important (important coz he owns the pit...) cannot make it on Fri! After some discussion, we decided to fix it on Thurs. This should end the changing of dates. Ma Fan!

This week had to be my FUN week... I'm gonna start on my readings next week. And finish up my PA report asap too. And to get all the SSAs etc and zaaaap them. Ma Fan!

The 7-Quiz

Sunday, January 15

Okay, it's time to do the 7-Quiz! But, why 7?? Why not 8?? 8 is more auspicious!
Then do 8 responses for each question lar!
But to think of 7 answers is already an uphill task, so I'll stick to 7.

7 things that scare me

1. Ghosts. I dun know what to do if I see one...
2. Snakes. I'm glad I have not encountered any in army. Yucky slimy thingies!
3. Blood, injections. It's a psychological effect. I fainted once in primary school because of a minor cut. Hmmm. It's better now, coz I do donate blood sometimes now.
4. Walking beneath a HDB flat without any shelter. I still remembered there were some dramas in the past when people just walked and a flowerpot just hit them... But well, I still walk under HDB flats. Life can’t be so sway, right?
5. Being terminally sick, like cancer, AIDS. Who won't?
6. The light-speed at which time flies. It's the Dog Year... I will be 24! Huh!
7. When nothing scares me already. Meaning I am numb to everything, unmotivated by anything.

7 things I Like

1. Being myself. It is very tired to act, to become another person, to put on a brittle front. But sometimes, I think I am still finding myself.
2. Sweet food. Sugar running through the body makes one happier... I think.
3. My collection of CDs, especially those that I bought a long time ago. Can you still remember your very first CD? Actually I can’t, but I think it was some pirated CD.
4. Take photos. Hmmm. Something’s wrong with the statement? Oh, I mean take photos of myself. Or people taking photos of myself could also be counted.
5. The sun: When I am sun tanning, when I am outdoors, when I need it.
6. The rain: When I am sleeping, when I am in my room, when I long for it.
7. Money… Aiya, I have been stuck on this question for too long!

7 things I like most in my room

1. My guitar. It’s my tool for expressing my inspiration.
2. The photos there on the board. They remind me of the nice days I had.
3. My blanket. I love to cuddle in it.
4. My laptop. It contains my photos, music files, MSN… But I wonder why I wasn’t very depressed when my hard disk crashed and was replaced last time.
5. The lights I bought from IKEA. When it is late midnight, turning on just these lights makes the room so classy. They are not very expensive too.
6. TV. Even though there’re only free-to-air channels and it could get a bit blurry at times, I am contended.
7. My single room as a whole. Moving back home when I graduate means no more single room of my own and I have to squeeze. And I do mean squeeze… “Where’s my bed?”

7 random facts about me

1. My 4 front teeth are partly crowns.
2. I love celery juice, with or without adding fruits. Great anti-oxidant properties!
3. I wear my left contact lens with my left finger, and my right lens with my right finger.
4. Same for removing my contact lens.
5. When I am alone, I may dig my ears with my finger and then smell my finger.
6. I don’t know how to reach falsetto in singing ktv. High notes? Die…
7. I have 2 earholes on my left ear in case they are not noticed by you. I was chided at a parade rehearsal once during army. My 1st earhole was a bit swollen then and the stupid CO (or RSM?) sort of sarcastically directed his words at me even though I used a transparent earstick. Wtf!

7 things i plan to do before i die

1. Play World of Warcraft.
2. Travel around the world.
3. Learn keyboard and master some song composing techniques.
(The above 3 have been mentioned before some time ago, so not hard… haha)
4. To find the one meant for me.
5. To write a few complete songs and perform them somewhere.
6. Hmmm. To learn singing as well so that I can perform them myself.
7. To let everyone I know how I have always felt about them.

7 things i can do

1. Drink celery juice happily. Not many people can do this.
2. Eat a lot and a lot more without getting fat. Oops. But I want to gain more weight leh.
3. Perform embarrassing acts. Like the drinks stall ask-who-incident, the Biz Comm walk-into-wrong-time-slot-incident.
4. Lie without battling an eyelid. For most of the time.
5. Study on my bed and falling asleep. Thanks to neighbour for helping me to close my door.
6. Speak and understand Cantonese shows, but cannot really sing many Catonese songs.
7. Sing a sentence of a Tamil song, the one called “Munaru Valiba…”

7 things i can't do

1. Fly. When I was young, I wished I could fly. Maybe I’ll turn into a bird, or grow wings.
2. Teleport. Now that I am older, I prefer the ability to teleport instead. This helps me not to be late as teleport is instantaneous. Flying takes time.
3. Write with my left hand. I tried! I even bought those writing books for toddlers a few years ago and tried them with my left hand. But still I can’t. Maybe it was because I lost the passion eventually.
4. Distinguish between han yu pin yin for “ng” vs “n”. For example, ‘zhuang’ vs ‘zhuan’. So when I am typing Chinese characters, I hate it when there are words pronounced like ‘zhuang’, coz it could be ‘zhuang’, ‘zuang’, ‘zhuan’ or ‘zuan’. And if it comes with another similar word, like ‘chuang’, that means I have to mix and match ‘chuan zhuang’, ‘cuang zhuan’ etc. And 4x4=16 combinations! *Pengz*
5. Cook a proper meal. Please, if you say you can, do not tell me instant noodles are counted. I mean a PROPER meal. If you really can, good for you!
6. Get IPPT Gold now. I achieved Gold standard in army then. Now, I can only sustain a Silver. It’s the running part… How can I run under 9:45 for 2.4 km now?? I jog regularly, but I dun go for sprint trainings. So it’s kind of hard to achieve Gold.
7. Turn back time. Dun you wish to be able to turn back time and change some things?

7 things i say most

1. Yo!!
2. Huh? Eh… Erm…
3. Orh
4. 随便咯。
5. Anything lar!
6. 真的吗??
7. 对咯对咯… *gossip follows*
(Sounds like a conversation there itself…)

7 Songs that i like:

1. 光良“如果你还爱我”
2. 李绮“爱太远”
3. The Cranberries “Dreams”
4. 孙燕姿“我要的幸福”
5. 品冠,黄嘉千“爱情转弯的地方”
6. 范围琪“因为”
7. Savage Garden “Truly Madly Deeply”

7 Albums that i like

Erm… Stefanie Sun’s albums okay?
1. 孙燕姿同名专辑
2. 我要的幸福
3. 风筝
4. Start:自选辑
5. Leave
6. The Moment
7. Stefanie
PLUS ONE MORE!!
8. 完美的一天
(Okay this question is easy.)

7 People i'll love to see doing this

If you are free, just do it.
Not free?
I dun believe it! If you are not free, then why are you here?

Excuses! Liar!
=P

Today is my last day of PA. It was also a day of weeping and sobbing. As it was Phoebe's and my last day of PA in the department, our colleagues could not bear to see us leave. Boxes and boxes of tissue were used up in one single day, and tears were shed continously. However, the day must still come to an end. As Phoebe and I left the office finally, we turned our heads back one last time, gave our weeping colleagues a watery smile, before we stepped into the lift. Alone in the lift, we never felt colder than today......

Well... I'm just kidding!! How could it be so drama?? I spent my final day typing as much of my PA report as I could. I thought I could not type enough words, but as I typed, I realised I might be exceeding. Hmmm. Later my big boss treat us to lunch at a restaurant where we ate Hokkien dishes. Not bad, coz it's free! Phoebe and I also went to get presents and cards for our 2 supervisors at the last minute, and we even managed to get them wrapped. We are so sincere right? Hehe.

Oh I increased my font size... Sometimes I could even hardly read my blog, and thus BIG should be better. It's time to change my template too. Sigh, I am sick of my main picture up there. And the side pictures on the right. Honestly. Let me think how to improve. *thinking*

It's time to hightlight hair! I mentioned to a few people that I wanted to highlight my hair GREEN. However, I still have presentations to make next semester and I do not want to be penalized for having GREEN hair. Some tutors... u never know... so it's safer to remain normal and cute/cool to seduce and charm the tutors... if i could... haha...

SCV now has free KTV on preview channel 01! In case you dun know, SCV launched a few KTV channels a few months ago for different genres of music. This means if you have a KTV system at home, you could just tune in to the channel, plug in the mic, and SING! It's that simple. I dun have mic, and I am just singing while watching channel 01. KTV KTV! Erm, when??

I went for the first wedding dinner of the year on Sunday night! Congratz to 3sg chew n his wife! It was quite a last minute invitation, and EJ and I concluded that he invited some of us at the last minute coz he still have seats left (and he'll suffer a loss if the seats are not filled up mah...) But another reason could be that it was caused by some fortune teller about the perfect date for the wedding, and thus, everything was quite rushed. Haa but anyway, most of the platoon were there to offer our blessings. The wedding was generally smooth, with the solemnisation combined with the dinner. Seems to be the in-thing now.

The venue was exactly the same as my first Hall D&D! The same hotel, the same ballroom, can't recall if the food was the same though.

And yeah, although it's supposed to be chew's wedding, we took lotsa photos of ourselves. No wonder they told me to bring my camera along. This time, I find lesser photos of myself and more photos of someone else... So please don't say I am the cam whore who keeps hogging the camera lens! Haa...

My PA is finally going to end! A few more working days and it's back to school life! I'm looking forward to school life once again... No more wear nice nice everyday, wake up early, squeeze with mrt crowd etc...

It was not just PA in the holis. FYP is another burden and for my group, we have successfully met up with 2 (CORRECTION: not 2 but 3!) famous and successful lawyers in the local scene, such as Mr Harpreet from Drew & Napier. Sounds impressive ah? Haa... anyway I didn't mention it before, but lawyers come in different sizes and shapes too. Some are super charismatic who evoke electricity from their eyes, some are patient and willing to give ideas, while others are more dominating. But all of them carry with them an air of confidence and assurance... Of course, we appreciated their help as we got much important views from them.

Final semester in NBS and hall... =)

2006

Monday, January 2

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

It really seems like last year that I entered NTU, but this year, I will be graduating soon. Shall not digress too much about this here as I still have one more sem to go.

The past year had been... nothing exciting. Or issit?

1. NTU life. In NBS, I continued to study and indulge in project work like everyone else. Modules like aa202, 205 and 206 widened our circle in NBS as we worked with different people for project work. Hence derived names like Bimbos, Thunder Thighs, Loser. No! We are not mean! It's just for fun! Haa...
As for Hall, nothing too exciting, other than that my term in the JCRC has ended. Maybe I dun feel too much excitment coz I missed FOC due to my reservist. While I had fun during my reservist, missing FOC is quite sad too... The freshies! I cannot know them well! And I can't hang out with my fellow seniors during FOC too... Well, I gain something and lost something. Fair enough.

2. Reservist. It's a siong hi-key that time. Yet, it's fun k when my fellow reservist mates are people I know! I know I sound crazy, but how often do I get to hang out with my platoon mates again, living together, chion-ing together, kao peh-ing together, siao-ing together?? And I got to earn $200 for 2 weeks of stay (plus free breakfast, lunch n dinner), $200 for IPPT silver and $200 for marksmanship! (2 weeks = $600, much better than PA!) But reservist may get less enjoyable over the years when more and more people have to miss reservist due to work commitments. I hope I won't miss this year!

3. Friends. I'm grateful that I called up 2 old friends to chat during my exam period during Y2S2 exams and have linked back contact with them. I treasure relationships and it's great to contact my old good friends again.

4. Love. *BLANK* It's not pathetic, it's just that the right one has not arrived yet.

5. Career. Although I do not have one yet, I have secured a job in EY. My career will soar from there! "See me fly, I'm proud to fly up high!"

My New Year wishes for 2006 are quite simple... To be in good health, to get only 'A's for final sem, to have good colleagues n boss in EY, to win 4D top prize, to learn to play keyboard, to keep in contact with old friends and make new friends...

Hmmm some seem not to be in my control, while others are. Some high probabilities and some low probabilities. This is called diversifying my portfolio of new year wishes mah! Yay! Good luck to everyone for 2006!
